Technotelepathy "No more texting"

Is it so much of a stretch to think that a higher life forms would communicate using Telepathy.  I contend that we will have this ablity sooner than you think (pun intended) but it will not be natural it will be Technotelepathy.  We have gone from smoke signals to telegraph to telephone in the blink of an eye.
The sheer amount of communication gear one highschooler has rivals what whole governments had in the 1800's.  Today you see people walkin garound with a bluetooth in one ear seemingly talking to themselves so it is only a mater of time for the next step.  It will not be an easy transition as security will be a major problem.  Think of the advertising possiblities, you could plant a product idea right into someones head without without having to seduce interest in the item.  It is an interesting concept a sort of  email for the mind..........
